Comment Policy

Big Questions Online (BQO) invites readers to participate in discussions with our authors; we are grateful for your interest and engagement. After each essay is published, the author will lead a discussion in the comments section, responding to readers’ remarks and questions. After several days, the author will generally post a summary, concluding the discussion and suggesting other avenues for future exploration.

Moderation: Please note that all reader comments are reviewed before they appear on BQO. Comments must be on-topic; we will not publish off-topic comments. We also will not publish comments that are harassing, abusive, libelous, obscene, or offensive, that encourage or condone unlawful activity, or that contain inappropriate personal information, advertisements, or spam. Although we generally will not edit readers’ comments, we reserve the right to do so at any time and for any reason. We also reserve the right to move or delete any comments after they have been posted and to blacklist (“ban”) commenter accounts at any time and for any reason.

Copyright and Permissions: When submitting comments on BQO, you agree (1) that you retain the copyright to your comments; (2) that your comments do not violate the intellectual property rights of any other party; and (3) that you grant the publisher of BQO a royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable, non-exclusive, unrestricted license to reproduce, display, and adapt your comments — including the user name displayed with your comments — in any medium and for any purpose, as well as to authorize others to do so.

Privacy: Please see BQO’s privacy policy for an explanation of how we may use or share information submitted by you or collected from you.
